Our community work

The College has a successful history of engaging learners from Bristol’s communities. We have an excellent reputation in our responsiveness to working with all areas of the community – whether indigenous, traditional or newly-settling communities.

Our widening participation programme means our focus is on:

  • Engaging hard-to-reach groups
  • First-step learning
  • Progression onto mainstream programmes

This work has traditionally covered work with young, disengaged people; groups for adults seeking work, improving English and maths; and programmes for speakers of other languages. This work has been delivered both by College teams and through a wide range of community partners.

We also offer opportunities to engage in informal learning, where learners have the opportunity to develop their interests, skills and/or job prospects.

This provision is critically important in meeting the needs of Bristol people – both within the city and the region.
