Alexandra Sermon

Assistant Principal Further and Higher Education

Alexandra has been Assistant Principal for Further and Higher Education since January 2019.  She is responsible for the development of curriculum in vocational and academic provision, together with leading the strategic direction of our higher education programmes delivered in association with our partner universities.

Alexandra graduated with a Law LLB Hons Exempting degree from Northumbria University before moving to Bristol, practising as a solicitor with Clarke Willmott specialising in clinical negligence.  In 2009, Alexandra moved into further education and worked as a law lecturer at Weston College, undertaking her PGCE part-time with Bath Spa University. Teaching law across a range of A level, BTEC and higher education programmes developed Alexandra’s knowledge of curriculum, at different levels, and she was promoted to Curriculum Manager for the Sixth Form in 2011.  Alexandra was Head of Department for Academic Studies at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College from January 2016 from where she joined City of Bristol College in May 2018, as Head of Quality for Classroom Based Learning.
