Is your job at risk? Do you want to improve your skills at work? And gain a nationally recognised qualification?
We offer workers a wide range of part-time courses and training opportunities, including free* NVQs, to help you secure your future.
If you are an employer, we can help your business employ and retain staff with appropriate skills.
* Subject to eligibility. There may be some charges for exams, registration or materials.
What is an NVQ?
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are 'competence-based' qualifications – practical, work-related tasks designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge to do a job more effectively.
Offered at a range of levels, you can study an NVQ whatever your occupation, whether you already have skills or are starting from scratch.
Gaining an NVQ – step by step
Step 1 – Assessment
You will be assessed on practical assignments and workplace observation. An assessor will work with you one-to-one – testing your knowledge, understanding and performance.
Step 2 – Portfolio of evidence
As you complete daily tasks effectively you will build up your portfolio of evidence, matching the standards required with your performance.
Step 3 – Award
When all units and your portfolio of evidence are signed off by your assessor, you will gain your NVQ.
