Courses for International Students

Here are the main course options for international students in the College:

International English Photograph: A student working.

At City of Bristol College you can study English and Academic Skills to help you develop confidence and fluency in the English language.

Our course will help you develop your English grammar, reading and writing skills, speaking listening and pronunciation skills. You will focus on new vocabulary, developing good study skills, exam techniques and academic skills such as planning and writing essays, and accurate referencing to help you progress to another course at the College / university.

This course runs at two levels: Intermediate (IELTS 4.0 – 5.0) and Upper intermediate (IELTS 5.0 – 6.5)

You will study at our Ashley Down centre.

The main course start dates are in September, January and April.

A Levels

As one of the largest and most successful A Level Centres in the area, we are able to offer a wide range of support services to our students. Our A Level Centre is a lively and exciting place to study, right in the heart of the city centre.

International Foundation Course (Access to Higher Education)

This is the course for you if your qualifications don't allow you to progress directly to a British university.

It also acts as a fast-track course for international students who want to go on to university.

University level courses

We offer Foundation Degrees where you study for two years with City of Bristol College and then on successful completion, you automatically progress straight into the third year at university. The College has partnerships with several leading universities in the UK. Popular subjects include Business, Computing, Hospitality & Tourism and Engineering (including Aeronautical Engineering).

Pre-Masters Programme

The Pre-Masters Programme is a one-year course designed specifically for international students. It will help to prepare you for postgraduate study at a wide range of universities including the University of the West of England, which developed the programme with City of Bristol College.

Postgraduate Diplomas

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Our internationally recognised postgraduate diplomas are designed to give you the knowledge and experience you need. A key component of this course is a six month internship with a local employer. Our postgraduate diploma prepares you for entry to a partner university to top up to a masters in one semester.

Vocational courses

The College also offers practical, work-related courses, known as vocational courses which are recognised by employers and universities. They provide 'on the job knowledge' and allow you to gain valuable experience in the field you wish to work in. Popular courses for international students are: Business, Art & Design, Catering, Computing and Engineering, Hair and Beauty, Holistic Therapy, Hospitality and, Travel and Tourism.
