Facts and figures
With 8 faculties offering over 1,000 full and part-time day and evening courses, the College offers the widest choice of programmes in the area. Courses offered include provision in all 15 subject sector areas and at all levels – from pre-entry through to higher education.
Learner participation and recruitment
We deliver education and training at all levels in most academic and vocational areas and an extensive network of curriculum progression routes for learners.

Approximately 7,000 are 16-18 years old, of which:
- 4,000 are full-time
- 1,500 are part-time
- 1,250 are on apprenticeship schemes
Sixth Form Academy and Apprenticeship and Skills Academy
The College’s dedicated Sixth Form Academy and Apprenticeship and Skills Academy help you achieve your goals.
With tutors who are experts in teaching further education, the Sixth Form Academy provides a flexible approach to courses that include 35 A Levels, 20 BTEC National Certificates and Diplomas, plus a new AQA Baccalaureate and a range of other specialist diplomas and certificates.
Meanwhile, the Apprenticeship and Skills Academy has been formed in recognition of the huge investment in skills training in the area. The Academy offers over two thousand young people hands-on, practical experience in the work place and at College.
14-16 provision
The College has a large and expanding vocational schools link programme for 14-16 year olds. Currently up to 1,000 year 10 and 11 school pupils study at the College.
In the last year 64% of those 14-16 year olds studying full-time at the College progressed to further study at the College. And 72% gained a Level 1 qualification.
The qualifications gained by 14-16 pupils studying at the College make a valuable contribution to schools' league tables.
Employers
The College has an extensive range of full cost programmes designed to meet employer needs. This programme of skills training focuses on key local/regional priority areas:
20,000 enrolments sponsored by over 1,200 employers - 84% of employers stated that their employees’ learning benefited their business (2007 Employer Satisfaction Survey)
- High profile training contracts with employers, including Airbus, NHS, HSBC, DAF Trucks and Porsche cars

Brunel and Gordano Training
Working with Bristol's business community to provide a wide-range of apprenticeships, adult training opportunities, NVQs, E2E, in-company courses and learndirect training across various sectors such as engineering and business administration.
Adults
The College is the leading provider of adult and community learning in the city with extensive community partnership provision and responsibility for the LEA ACL contract since 2006.
Up to 8,000 students are on Skills for Life qualifications and about 13% of students are BME – compared to 8% of the Bristol population.
University level
Over 1,500 higher education students and a growing Foundation Degree programme in partnership with a number of universities including UWE, University of Plymouth, Bath Spa University and University of Bristol.
University Centre
Our University Centre at Ashley Down provides a dedicated university environment to ensure you get the most out of your studies. This centre is the focal point for university level students away from the classroom and consolidates much of our higher education delivery into one area.
Learning together
We particularly welcome students from black and minority ethnic groups, older students and disabled people.
This College is committed to ensuring that disabled people, including those with learning difficulties, are treated fairly. All reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure that disabled students and other disabled people are not substantially disadvantaged.
