With over 40,000 students studying with us, we like to hear what they think about the courses and training that we provide at College. This video clip provides quotes from our students about what studying with us is really like.
What do our students enjoy most about College?
'We're treated like adults and are not spoon-fed information like in school. We have more freedom without having a teacher watching our every move.'
Alan Griffey.
'There's always something going on, in and out of class. There are so many
different people all with different interests planning trips and events. I've been to see some great plays at local theatres, dressed up for themed parties, and even gone on a French exchange!'
Helen Moores.
'The freedom we get has to be the best aspect of college. We get to choose what we study, what we wear,
and it's up to us to plan our work schedules.’
Ollie Fortune.
'With so many different subjects to choose from at City of Bristol College you end up having so many more options for when you are ready to move on to higher education or work.'
David Ashley.

Monday
Arrived in college at midday for my History A Level lesson. We're covering Nazi Germany at the moment and spent today trying to decide whether Hitler was a strong or a weak leader. Nipped out to Boots during my lunch hour and returned for Psychology, where we discussed whether or not some of the more extreme experiments were damaging to the people who participated in them. Left for home at ten to five.
Tuesday
Did some History research this morning before going to my A Level English Language class. We were discussing the way in which children pick up their language skills. After grabbing a sandwich at the shop, I went back for more discussion of the Nazis in History. Once I got home, I did some revision for my Psychology mock exam on Wednesday.
Wednesday
Wednesday is my 'long' Psychology lesson (9.30-11.45am), so there was time in the second half of the lesson to read an article on electroconvulsive therapy and take some notes. We had to do a mock exam on Behaviour Therapies. My previous exam was returned to me and we discussed how everyone had done before moving onto the next test.
Thursday
A bit of a different day today as my lecturers had organised for a Senior Examiner to come in and run a revision session for us. She discussed how to approach the exam and how to get as many marks as possible; important for me as Plymouth, my chosen university, have asked that I get a good grade in Psychology. Best of all, the revision conference was held at the Zoo, so I got a quick stroll round in the sunshine afterwards! Maybe I'll adopt one of the cuter monkeys.
Friday
Came in early today as I had arranged to see one of my lecturers about my coursework. Also saw my personal tutor. I need to make an appointment with her next week to talk about applying for student loans at university. Later I popped into the computer room to make a few adjustments to the final draft of my psychology research. Then last lesson of the week was English Language, 2pm - 3.30pm.

Monday
I started my Further Education Award class at 10.15am today. I like the F.E. Award because I can choose my own project. In the afternoon I did Numeracy, I sorted out my files and wrote up all my assessed work. I like Numeracy because we work as part of a group.
Tuesday
I went to my work placement with Somerfield today. I was stacking shelves until lunchtime, then worked on the deli counter serving customers in the afternoon, which I like because I get to chat to the customers. The work placement experience has helped me get a job!
Wednesday
I started the day with my Literacy Tutor. We chatted about my end of term review. I then finished my own project, which is on Emmerdale. In the afternoon I had a tutorial. I sat with the tutor to write a work placement diary and discussed issues about health and safety hazards at my work placement.
Thursday
I went to the refectory at 9am to meet my tutor and support worker. I got changed into my catering uniform and set up the coffee shop. I enjoy catering because I like cooking and meeting people. In the afternoon I went to the classroom and wrote my diary and did all the theory, which is OK.
Ismail Ali Ismail
I get in to college at 9.30am and I leave at 3pm. I work Monday to Friday.
Monday
I do circle time and we talk about weekends and any news. I talk about my feelings. We mirror each move we make; if I smile they copy. I think my tutor is great and a lot of fun.
Tuesday
On Tuesday I do work skills. I learn about health and safety, keeping things tidy and hygienic. You learn a lot about keeping your home and office tidy.
Wednesday
On Wednesday I'm in the drama group. We do circle time and we play on drums, guitar and the maracas.
Thursday
I do cooking with Neale, Bob and Louise.
Friday
I make a newsletter every Friday with Jon.
