Where Will I Study?

Dedicated A Level Centre

Photograph: A Level Centre. Our A Level Centre at the College Green Centre means that our 850 A Level students are taught in the heart of Bristol in a single, dedicated building using the very latest teaching facilities. And with over 30 separate A Level subjects offered in a variety of combinations, we offer the widest range in the area, all taught by experienced and specialist A Level teachers.

Ofsted success

Ofsted inspectors visiting the College rated us the top-performing college in the West of England.

Our College Principal, Keith Elliott, says:

‘Students will benefit from an environment that's lively and encourages them to take responsibility for their own learning. This approach also helps to bridge the gap between schools and university or employment.'

Head of School - the interview

We interviewed Head of School, Adrian Frost, to get a first-hand view of the A Level Centre and what it means for you, the students.

Here's what he said…

‘Our students work in a modern, purpose-built environment with a mature working ethos. We've specialist labs, computer workshops and general-purpose classrooms - all specifically devoted to the delivery of quality A Level courses.’

What can students expect from tutors?
‘Our staff are A Level specialists, so it makes sense to bring them together in one single centre. And it helps the students to feel part of an organisation with a clear sense of energy and purpose.’

How does the Centre compare with other A Level Centres in the Bristol area?
‘We don't think there is anything else like it in Bristol. We are not a school, but we do try to bridge the gap between school and employment or university by offering the independence and informality of a university, combined with the clear structure and support of a school.’

How does the Centre fit in with your future plans?
‘Our aim is to build on our proven track record of success (winning the Beacon Award, for example) and to work closely with exam boards as we steer our way through the changes to A Levels that are in the pipeline.’

Why should a school leaver choose to study A Levels at City of Bristol College?
‘We offer the serious pursuit of A Level success in a fun, informal environment. And we're the biggest A Level provider in Bristol, offering great choice and support - that's not to say we forget that education is about you, the individual.’
