Course DescriptionThis is a two year course, which encourages a creative and individual approach to photography whilst also developing your awareness of its commercial context and potential. In recent years digital imaging has become mainstream in commercial photography applications and electronic communications, though film-based photography still retains a strong presence in these and other areas. On this highly practical course you will cover a range of topics from darkroom to high-end critical appreciation to running a business. You will also have the opportunity to work on 'live' assignments briefs.
AssessmentAssessment is through practical work, seminars, critiques and written assignments.
ProgressionSuccessful students can progress to the final year of BA (Hons) Design in Photography at the University of Plymouth or apply to do Photography at another university. Gain the skills and knowledge needed to work in the photographic industry, either in employment or as a freelance photographer.
Entry RequirementsA minimum of 120 UCAS points normally made up from: - BTEC National Diploma in a related subject - AS/A2 Levels with at least an A2 in a relevant subject - or Key Skills at Level 3 - or a full Access Certificate in an appropriate pathway - or BTEC Foundation Diploma Mature students with relevant experience and/or related qualifications are welcome to apply. Applicants will need to attend an interview and show portfolio evidence of creative photography with good technique. You must apply through UCAS. Code is BCBC B77 E641 FdA/PP (route B only).
