Do you have an idea of what you want to do when you leave school? Are you keen to move away from full-time, classroom-based study? Would you like to earn money while you learn? If so, an Apprenticeship might be the right choice for you.

What is an Apprenticeship?

With an Apprenticeship you start working for an employer from day one, earning a wage while you develop specific job skills. You’ll get on- and off-the-job training both at work and through attendance at College.
The average weekly wage for an apprentice is around £170 and, as your skills develop, your pay will increase too.

What could I be?

We cover a wide range of areas including Apprenticeships relevant to today’s economy, including customer service, accounting, business and administration, retail and computing. We also provide well-established Apprenticeships in traditional trades such as engineering, motor vehicle, catering and plumbing.

What does an Apprenticeship cost?

Apprenticeships are funded by the Government and won’t cost you anything. In fact, you’ll get paid a wage and have paid holiday. As long as you are over 16 and you have not achieved a Level 4 or higher qualification, you are eligible to apply.

What qualifications will I get?

On successful completion of your Apprenticeship you will get:
  • A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
  • A knowledge qualification (Certificate or Diploma)
  • Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT
Apprenticeships don’t stop you building up your qualifications. You can choose to keep studying up to Foundation Degree level if you want to, or go on to university.
