About the course

You will have the opportunity to learn about a practical career in floristry by planning and preparing your own arrangements and design work. You will provide your own flowers and foliage for the course, with guidance from the course tutor and tips on how to use materials economically. The Level 2 Certificate in Floristry will take place in the floristry workshop at South Bristol Skills Academy, with access to sundries and materials to enhance your creative work with flowers. This course will run over two days.

Entry Requirements

 A passion to work in the Floristry Industry however no previous Floristry Experience is required

GCSE Grade D or equivalent in English and / or maths

A creative flare

Basic ICT skills are required to complete research and assignment tasks.

What will I do on this course?

As part of the Level 2 Certificate in Floristry, you will study:  

  • How to plan and prepare floral designs
  • Consider the requirements of the client  
  • Identify the names of flowers and foliage
  • Complete an on-line test on knowledge
  • Art and design unit  
  • Cultural, spiritual and ethical issues
  • Health and safety considerations to yourself and others
  • Customer care and understanding

  • Written tests
  • Practical assessments

  • Work in a florist shop
  • Set up a small business  
  • Work in a garden centre  
  • Go straight into the floristry industry
  • Work as a wedding event florist
  • Corporate floral work for the hotel and catering industry
  • Progress to Level 3 Floristry


Additional cost

It will be necessary to supply your own writing materials and folders.

Uniform £ 25.00 ( Polo shirt and Apron)

Fresh materials £400.00

Eligible students will be able to apply to the college Learner Support Fund for help with these course costs.
