About the course

Biology is all around us. It is the study of living things: the diversity of life, the structure and function of living organisms and their interactions with the natural environment. This fascinating subject is rapidly changing and having an ever increasing impact on everyday life. Biology is fun and will develop your understanding of yourself and the world you live in. 

Entry Requirements

You should have completed the AS Biology course unless you plan to study both AS and A2 in the same year.

You will need to hold GCSE maths and GCSE English at grade C or above.

What will I do on this course?

Like all sciences, biology involves testing ideas through planning, implementing and evaluating experimental evidence. The course enables you to gain a deep and well-informed insight into biology and the scientific theory and processes that control and affect it.

  • An inclusive approach, looking at biology from the molecular scale through to cells, tissues, organs and systems up to the whole organism scale
  • All placed within the context of global ecological systems and man's exploitation of them
