About the course

This course provides a general foundation in business and management theories and concepts by exploring the nature of business, how business meets the needs of customers, stakeholders and employees, and how factors outside the organisation affect business performance. It will prepare you for a career in business management and equip you with real world business skills to work in a wide range of industries.

Students usually need one or more of the following:

  • Access to Higher Education Diploma in an appropriate pathway.

The course is studied on a modular basis. and taught by lecturers, seminars, workshops, guest speakers, industry case studies, visits and placements whilst supported by Moodle, our Virtual Learning Environment. Modules may include:

What could I do next?

After successful completion of the course students can progress to various careers in a range of sectors.  Students may also complete the final year of the BA (Hons) Business Degree at the University of Plymouth or progress to courses at other universities. Students wishing to continue their professional development can also progress to a range of higher level accredited qualifications in Marketing, Management, HR or CILEX.
