About the course

This course offers you a chance to learn all about the world of business. You will gain confidence and independence and be able to present yourself to potential employers. You will understand how to market a product, how to communicate effectively and how to create a web site that you could use in your future career. At the end of year one, you can achieve a 90 Credit Diploma or top up in year 2 to an Extended Diploma. 

Entry Requirements

You will need:

  • Five GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English
  • A desire to succeed
  • A willingness to research
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills 
What will I do on this course?

You will study a variety of topics to prepare you for work or further study. We will also make sure that you have the Maths, IT and English skills that employers need. Topics include:

  • Developing teams in business
  • Marketing
  • Web design
  • Business accounting
  • Communication skills

You will have the opportunity, as part of your programme, to spend 30hrs on a relevant work placement.

What could I do next?

Success on the course allows progression to a range of higher education courses at university or college. The college has a number of partnership agreements with universities such as Plymouth, Bath Spa and UWE. These agreements allow students to undertake Foundation Degrees at CoBC before progressing to an honours degree at the university concerned. The course also prepares you for a range of jobs in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
