About the course

This course is an ideal opportunity to transfer your manual bookkeeping skills to computerised. In today's market, more and more companies are turning to computerised bookkeeping. This will allow you to transfer your skills using the Sage software package. 

Entry Requirements

This course concentrates on computerised bookkeeping.  You must either have passed Level 1 Computerised Accounts or have a working knowledge of computerised accounting equivalent to that covered at Level 1. You are required to have an understanding of manual bookkeeping procedures and must either have AAT Level 2 Accounting, or IAB Level 2 Manual Bookkeeping (or equivalent), as knowledge of bookkeeping skills is required for this course.  In addition, applicants must also possess:

  • Good standard of spoken English
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent


What will I do on this course?

You will be guided through the computerised accounting entries are required to process a transaction.The course will cover:

  • Setting up the system with company details
  • VAT system
  • Process invoices, credit notes and receipts
  • Create nominal ledgers  
  • Update/maintain the purchase/sales ledger
  • Reoccurring entries and petty cash

How Is this course assessed?

This qualification is assessed by formal examination.

On completion of this course you could progress to:

  • Payroll Administration Level 2
  • Bookkeeping and Ethics Level 3 Certificate

You may wish to purchase a copy of Sage Instant Account to use at home - this will cost approximately  £36.00.  Note:  the software will only run on Windows-based operating systems - it does not like Macs.  The software is also intended for training purposes only and can not be used for commercial purposes.
