About the course

The programme has been developed to meet the needs of practising managers and those who aspire to a career in management. This management course helps you develop your potential and ensure you add a set of management skills and knowledge that you can use straight away to develop the performance of both yourself and your team.

Entry Requirements

  • You must have a good standard of English and maths
  • You may have a range of qualifications, or you may have gained experience in your professional role or other relevant training
  • You will have an informal discussion before enrolling on the course with one of the tutors to ensure it is the right course for you

There are nine units in this qualification including:

  • Personal development as a manager and leader
  • Information based decision making
  • Practices of resource management
  • Meeting stakeholder and quality needs
  • Conducting a management project
  • Managing ideas and innovation
  • Plus 3 other units
Who is it for?

The course is aimed at people from a wide range of different workplaces. It is not essential to be in a management role already, but it is important to be in a job role where you can draw on your workplace experiences and knowledge to be able to apply the content of the course. Successful students on this course have come from all sectors of the economy, cover a wide age range and have varied educational backgrounds.

How Is this course assessed?

All modules are assessed by coursework- there are no examinations. Some modules are assessed by an assignment based on the workplace, others are based on case studies or practical tasks. A typical assessment for a unit would be a report into observed styles of leadership. Most reports have suggested a word count of 3,000 words.

What could I do next?

This course progresses naturally to the CMI Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. some students may also choose other routes, such as CIPD in Human Resources, Marketing or an NVQ at Level 5 or 7.
