About the course

The CIPD Level 5 Intermediate qualification courses will help develop knowledge and understanding of different HR models and practices, and the external factors that impact on organisations, whilst also developing your ability in management planning, analytical and problem solving skills and to evaluate the effectiveness of Human Resource practices.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will have 2+ years experience working within a HR or L&D environment, with responsibility for implementing policies and procedures. You will also need a good standard of spoken and written English. A L3 CIPD Certificate in Human Resources Practice is desirable.

What will I do on this course?

This course is studied on a modular basis and taught by lectures, seminars, workshops, occasional guest speakers and industry case studies whilst supported by Moodle, our Virtual Learning Environment. Modules to the value of 32 credits are required for this level of study. Courses start in September and April, subject to student numbers.

Core modules are:

  • Developing Professional Practice (5DVP)
  • Business Issues and the Contexts of Human Resources (5CHR)
  • Using Information in Human Resources (5UIN)

Optional modules include:

  • Resourcing and Talent Planning (5RST)
  • Reward Management (5RMT)
  • Employee Engagement (5ENG)
  • Employment Law (5EML)
  • Developing Leadership and Management Skills (5LMS)
  • Implementing Coaching and Mentoring (5ICM)

This course is a perfect progression opportunity for people currently holding the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in HR or L&D, or people who want to gain a respected, recognised intermediate level professional qualification to progress in their career by improving their HR or L&D knowledge and skills.
