About the course

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Level 3 qualification is perfect if you want to acquire a wide range of relevant and practical skills in HR and development. It will also give you a professionally recognised qualification and a professional level of CIPD membership, Associate (Assoc CIPD).

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry qualifications. You are required to join the CIPD as a student member at the beginning of the course and remain in membership throughout the course.

  • You will need to have a good standard of spoken and written English
  • This should include the ability to write reports (guidance on the structure will be given), the correct use of punctuation and grammar
  • The ability to read and interpret text and take notes is essential
What will I do on this course?

This course is studied on a modular basis and taught by lectures, seminars, workshops and the occasional guest speakers and industry case studies whilst supported by Moodle, our Virtual Learning Environment. Modules to the value of 28 credits are required for this level of study.

Core modules are:

  • Developing Yourself as an Effective Human Resources Practitioner (4DEP)
  • Understanding Organisations and the Role of Human Resources (3HRC)
  • Recording, Analysing and Using Human Resources Information (3RAI)

Optional modules include: 

  • Resourcing Talent (3RTO)
  • Supporting Good Practice in Managing Employment Relations (3MER)
  • Supporting Good Practice in Performance and Reward Management (3PRM)

Optional modules are selected in conjunction with the lecturer and students so this may vary by course. For a full list of modules please refer to the CIPD website.

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for those wishing to pursue a career in HR or individuals wishing to develop their career within HR as you will gain knowledge of human resources practice.

You may wish to progress onto the CIPD Level 5 course. As your CIPD qualifications will equip you with the knowledge and skills that employers are looking for, this will enhance your career prospects and increase your earning potential. Independent research reveals that individuals with professional qualifications stand to earn £81,000 in additional earning over a lifetime (CCPMO Economic Impact Report, December 2008).

Additional cost

There are CIPD registration and subscription fees that are not included in the college course fees shown and these have to be paid direct by you to the CIPD.
