About the course

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching is a certification program for entry-level network engineers that helps maximize your investment in foundational networking knowledge and increase the value of your employer's network. This is the final of four modules that lead to the CCNA certification.

Entry Requirements

You should have successfully completed the Cisco CCNA R & S modules 1, 2 and 3.

What will I do on this course?

The course will develop your knowledge and skills required to Design and Support Computer Networks.  Candidates will follow a standard design process to that helps them to expand and upgrade networks. This includes requirements gathering, proof of concept and project management.  Some of the topics you will cover include:

  • Hierarchical Network Design Concepts
  • Connecting to the WAN
  • Point-to-Point Connections
  • Frame Relay
  • NAT for IPv4
  • Broadband Solutions
  • Securing Site-to site Connectivity
  • Monitoring the Network
  • Troubleshooting the Network
Who is it for?

CCNA Routing and Switching is for Network Specialists, Network Administrators, and Network Support Engineers with 1-3 years of experience. The CCNA Routing and Switching validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.

How Is this course assessed?

Assessment is by an online end of course exam set by the Cisco Academy. You will receive the CCNA R & S 4 component assessment certificate. 

What could I do next?

Candidates holding the four CCNA assessment certificates can achieve the full Cisco CCNA certificate by sitting the online examination provided on behalf of Cisco through a PearsonVue testing centre. The college offers this service. You could also progress to the CompTIA Security+ or CCNA Security certifications. 

Additional cost

For the full CCNA qualification, you are required to achieve all four assessment certificates and sit the CISCO CCNA vendor assessment through a PearsonVUE testing centre.
