About the course

This course gives you the opportunity to study both the knowledge and practical aspects of Bricklaying at Level 1.

Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Range of qualifications which should include at least 3 GCSEs at grade E or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent) or successful completion

Desirable Requirements

  • GCSEs in Maths and English at grade D or above
  • An excellent record of attendance and commitment at school/college
  • A strong commitment to adopt a 'work-ready' approach, taking responsibility for your own development and behaviour
What will I do on this course?

This qualification consists of 7 study units. Your study involved both knowledge and practical elements, including:

  • basic brick and block working,
  • setting out buildings,
  • communication,
  • calculation of components and
  • safe working practices.

You will also develop a knowledge of the different types of buildings and the methods used in their construction.

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for 16-18 year olds with an interest to learn knowledge and skills to start a career in Bricklaying.

  • Tests
  • Exams
What could I do next?

On successful completion of the course you can progress to the diploma level 2 in Bricklaying.

Additional cost

You will need protective footwear and a high visibility vest for practical sessions.
