Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements:

•A good grasp of basic Maths and English

Desirable Requirements:

•Achieved a level 1 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery

•Achieved 3 GCSEs grade D and above including Maths and English

•A strong commitment to adopt a 'work ready' approach, taking responsibility for your own development and behaviour

•Completed 30 hours or more of work experience within the construction industry

What will I do on this course?

Unit 201/601 Health, safety and welfare in construction

You will learn all about Health safety and welfare in construction ranging from legislation to fire safety to accident reporting

Unit 202/602 Principles of building construction, information and communication

You will learn the basis of construction including the roles and responsibilities of various other trades and construction professionals. You will also learn about the documentation and methods of communication that are used within the construction industry

Unit 211 Set up and operate a circular saw

You will learn about and gain practical experience of setting up and operating a circular saw.

Unit 212 Produce setting out details for bench joinery products

You will learn about and gain practical experience of setting out for joinery components such as doors windows and stairs

Unit 213 Mark out from setting out details for bench joinery products

You will learn about and gain practical experience of Marking out for joinery components such as doors windows and stairs

Unit 214 Manufacture bench joinery products

You will learn about and gain practical experience of manufacturing joinery components such as doors windows and stairs
