Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements:

•Achieved a level 2 qualification in Bench Joinery

Desirable Requirements:

•Achieved 3 GCSEs grade D and above including Maths and English

•A strong commitment to adopt a 'work ready' approach, taking responsibility for your own development and behaviour

•Completed 30 hours or more of work experience within the construction industry

What will I do on this course?

Unit 201/601 Health, safety and welfare in construction

You will learn all about health safety and welfare in construction ranging from legislation to fire safety to accident reporting

Unit 301/701 Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work

You will learn about the methods used for organising, planning and pricing construction work You will also learn about the documentation and methods of communication that are used within the construction industry

Unit 308 Set up and use fixed and transportable machinery

You will learn about and gain practical experience of setting up and operating a variety of woodworking machines including band saws, planers, spindle moulders, etc.

Unit 309 Manufacture shaped doors and frames

You will learn about and gain practical experience of the manufacturing process for shaped doors and frames

Unit 310 Manufacture stairs with turns

You will learn about and gain practical experience of the manufacturing process for complex staircases

This course is suitable for learners who are progressing from the level 2 diploma course in Bench Joinery and who have a keen interest to learn knowledge and skills to start a career in Bench Joinery.
