What will I do on this course?
Unit 201/601 Health, safety and welfare in construction
You will learn all about Health safety and welfare in construction ranging from legislation to fire safety to accident reporting
Unit 202/602 Principles of building construction, information and communication
You will learn the basis of construction including the roles and responsibilities of various other trades and construction professionals. You will also learn about the documentation and methods of communication that are used within the construction industry
Unit 207 Carry out first fix flooring and roofing
You will learn about and gain practical experience of structural carcassing including roofing and flooring
Unit 208 Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
You will learn about and gain practical experience of first fix carpentry including frames, linings, stud partitions and installing staircases
Unit 209 Carry out second fixing operations
You will learn about and gain practical experience of second fix carpentry including door hanging, fitting ironmongery, mouldings, service encasements and kitchen units
Unit 210 Carry out carpentry maintenance
You will learn about and gain practical experience of carpentry maintenance including repairing mouldings, doors and windows including sash windows and repairing rainwater pipes,
Unit 211 Set up and operate a circular saw
You will learn about and gain practical experience of setting up and operating a circular saw.
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for mature learners who have a keen interest to learn knowledge and skills to start a career in Site Carpentry.

You will be assessed in a number of different ways and receive regular feedback in reviews to guide your progress. Some of the ways in which your success will be measured are:

What could I do next?
On successful completion of the course you may be able to progress to the level 3 Diploma Site Carpentry. You could also apply for an apprenticeship in the Site Carpentry industry.
You will need protective footwear and a high visibility vest for practical sessions.
