About the course

This qualification is a basic craft introduction to the Electrical industry. This course gives you the opportunity to study both the knowledge and practical aspects of Electrical at Level 1.

This is a hands-on course which will train you in the basic skills of electrical wiring and wiring support systems such as conduit and tray.

Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements 

  • range of qualifications which should include at least 3 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent)
    OR successful completion of an Entry 3 vocational qualification
  • an initial assessment at entry level 1 or above
  • a good record of attendance and commitment at school or college
  • a high degree of enthusiasm and a commitment to succeed and prepare effectively for employment

Desirable Requirements

  • GCSEs in maths and English at grade C or above
  • An excellent record of attendance and commitment at school/college
  • A strong commitment to adopt a 'work ready' approach, taking responsibility for your own development and behaviour
What will I do on this course?

Most of your study time will be in practical sessions and will include;

  • basic electrical wiring and installation skills
  • testing and fault finding
  • communication
  • calculation of components 
  • safe working practices

 You may also be required to study maths and English as part of your course.

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for 16-18 year olds who have a keen interest to learn knowledge and skills to start a career in Electrical.

What could I do next?
