About the course

This course will teach you the knowledge and practical skills to become a trained Plasterer.

When undertaking an Apprenticeship, you will study a mixture of both work-based learning and training at college. You will earn a wage whilst learning a trade.

The duration of our Plastering apprenticeship lasts for a minimum of two years.

Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements you must have:  

  • Range of qualifications which should include at least 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language and Maths
  • To be employed or to have an offer of employment with an appropriate employer
  • An initial assessment at level 1 or above
  • Have a strong commitment to working with your employer and college assessor.
  • A good record of attendance at school or college
  • Demonstrate a high degree of enthusiasm and a guarantee to succeed and prepare effectively for employment

Desirable Requirements

  • An attendance record at college in excess of 90%
  • To be able to take responsibility for your own development and behaviour

  • Work-based NVQ
  • College based technical certificate
  • Employment rights and responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
  • Functional skills (if required)

You will be assessed in a number of different ways and receive regular feedback in reviews to guide your progress. Some of the ways in which your success will be measured are:

  • Attendance
  • Portfolio work
  • Exams
  • Online assessments
  • Practical assessments
What could I do next?

On successful completion of the course you may be able to progress to the level 3 advanced apprenticeship in Plastering. You could also obtain employment in the Plastering industry.

Additional cost

You will need learning materials, protective footwear, gloves and a high visibility vest for practical sessions.


You will need an interview for this course and to complete an initial assessment.
