About the course

This qualification is a basic craft introduction to the Plastering industry. This course gives you the opportunity to study both the knowledge and practical aspects of Plastering at Level 1.

Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements - you must have:  

  • a range of qualifications which should include at least 3 GCSEs at grade E or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent)
    OR successful completion of an Entry 3 vocational qualification
  • an initial assessment at entry level 3 or above
  • a good record of attendance and commitment at school or college
  • Demonstrate a high degree of enthusiasm and a commitment to succeed and prepare effectively for employment

Desirable Requirements

  • GCSEs in maths and English at grade D or above
  • An excellent record of attendance and commitment at school/college
  • A strong commitment to adopt a 'work ready' approach, taking responsibility for your own development and behaviour
What will I do on this course?

You will develop a knowledge of different types of buildings and the methods used in their construction.

This qualification consist of 6 study units. Your study has both knowledge and practical elements to include:

  • preparation and application of plaster materials
  • making plaster components from moulds
  • communication
  • calculation of components 
  • safe working practices

You may also be required to study Maths and English as part of your course.

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for 16-18 year olds who have a keen interest to learn knowledge and skills to start a career in Plastering.

What could I do next?

On successful completion of the course you may be able to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Plastering course. You could also apply for an apprenticeship in the Plastering industry.

Additional cost

You will need protective footwear and a high visibility vest for practical sessions.
