Plastering Level 2 for school leavers

This course is suitable for 16-18-year-olds who want to develop skills and knowledge in plastering.

This industry-relevant qualification comprises eight study units which will help you to develop technical skills beyond basic plastering. Your study will include; complex buildings and technology, applying plaster and plaster products to internal and external surfaces, forming cement sand screeds, communication and detailed building quantities calculations.

You may also be required to study Maths and English as part of your course if you are progressing from Level 1.

4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including Maths and/or English or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject plus GCSEs in Maths and/or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in Maths and/or English.

We will invite you to a Course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

Some Level 2 Technical qualifications may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course. This may include having English or Maths at Grade 4

You will also need an excellent record of attendance and commitment at school/College. You will also need to demonstrate a high degree of enthusiasm and a commitment to succeed and prepare effectively for employment.

This is a full-time course. Alongside your College tutorials, you will be required to take part in work experience and self-directed study.

You will be assessed in a number of different ways and receive regular feedback in reviews to guide your progress. Some of the ways in which your success will be measured are attendance, exams, online assessments, practical assessments and a portfolio of work.

On successful completion of the course you may be able to progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Plastering. You could also apply for an apprenticeship in the plastering industry.

As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationary.

You will need your own protective footwear for practical sessions, and will also need to buy a workwear uniform. You may also need a high visibility vest, protective goggles and gloves for some tasks. We offer some equipment which is free for you to use in College.
