About the course

Interactive Multimedia is everywhere and touches our lives through a range of digital media platforms - the internet, interactive games and 3D environments, e-commerce, video, mobile phone services and experimental interactive art. This vocationally-orientated Foundation Degree in Interactive Multimedia includes digital media and graphic design. It will enable students to engage with new media and emerging creative digital technology.

Students need a minimum of 56 UCAS points normally made up from some of the following:

  • A BTEC National diploma in a related subject
  • An AVCE Double Award in a related subject
  • AS/A2 (including a related subject or subjects)
  • Key Skills at Level 3
  • A Full Access Diploma in an appropriate pathway
  • Mature applicants with relevant experience and/or related qualifications are welcome to apply
  • All existing skills and potential will be considered at interview - Aplicants are asked to come to an interview with samples of personal, creative work, and should have some demonstrable computer skills.

What will I do on this course?

The Foundation degree Interactive Multimedia programme covers the wide spectrum of multimedia/nu media authoring, asset production, including digital design, responsive/adaptive internet design/construction, motion graphics, video fx, virtual reality, augmented reality ux design. Students wishing to examine purely creative outcomes can pursue interactive video and also sound and animation. The emphasis is on creative practical project portfolio. Multimedia modules include:

Who is it for?

Typical multimedia students are interested in animation, 3D, video, sound, interactive media and the internet as well as being creative and experimental. You should also be interested in photography, drawing, and contemporary design and arts, and excited by the prospects of exploring digital media. A part-time pathway is also available & individual modules.

How Is this course assessed?

All assessment is continuous and will typically be by coursework assignments and projects. Methods include group critique, presentations and peer discussions and evaluations. In addition, you will be supported with individual and group tutorials.

What could I do next?

Upon completion of this course students will be prepared for employment within relevant industries e.g. Digital Design Studios; Internet Development; Short film/animation productions; Motion Graphics; E-commerce; Film production/editing; VJ; Digital Project Management; Web graphics/animation; Interactive MM for education; E galleries. Successful completion of the Foundation Degree is broadly equivalent to two years undergraduate study.
