About the course

Entry Requirements

You must have achieved a 90 Credit Diploma in Art & Design, ideally within Interactive Design or Graphic Design, with a Pass grade in order to progress onto the Extended Diploma. We are happy to accept people from other institutes who have completed a 90 Credit Diploma. In this case we will require a list of units already achieved and have this verified by your previous tutor/college.

What will I do on this course?

Specialist units will provide you with technical and creative skills. Through a wide range of practical work-based projects, you will work on design briefs in the following disciplines

  • Sound for interactive design
  • 2D & 3D Animation
  • Digital Imagery
  • Film and Video
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • User Interface Design
  • Games Design Concepts
  • Website and App design

You will also write and design your own project within the subject and present your work through an end of year show.

Although the course does not include any formal English and Maths qualifications, you will work with vocationally relevant projects to help develop an understanding of the contextual language and numeracy involved within the subject at industry level. You will also develop your personal presentation, communication and organisational skills. Work experience opportunities are available.

Who is it for?

This course is a progression for all who have completed a 90 Credit Diploma in any Art & Design subject. The candidates will need to have successfully achieved a Pass on their 90 Credit Diploma and be able to demonstrate visual and creative skills at level 3, as well as working with a multitude of assignments and presenting work to a sufficient standard. If you are looking to move into a career in interactive design or study it at a higher level, then this is the right programme for you.
