About the course

The course that we offer at City of Bristol College leads to the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), which is recognised by the British Council, VSO, and language schools in Britain and abroad.

Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 A levels is desirable
  • A degree is helpful but not essential
  • Minimum age 20
  • Overseas students must have IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (Common European Framework Reference (CEFR) C2 level)
What will I do on this course?

The course aims to combine theory (input) with practice (teaching practice). You will have input sessions and you will have the chance to observe experienced teachers in the classroom. You will also teach groups of foreign students and then discuss the teaching practice with other trainees and the tutors.

The course is suitable for those who wish to teach English Language to adults either in the UK or abroad.

How Is this course assessed?

We will assess your performance holistically, based on the progress you make on the course. To receive the qualification, you need to complete the course and meet the assessment criteria for teaching practice and the four written assignments.

Additional cost

No additional costs beyond the course fee of £1417. This must be paid up front and the initial deposit of £400 is non-refundable.
