International English for Adults City of Bristol College

This course is perfect for adult students who want to prepare for Cambridge English exams: PET (B1), First Certificate (B2), Advanced (C1), Proficiency (C2) and the IELTS exam, or those students who want to improve their English in all skills. 

Morning English courses start at a low intermediate level (B1) and progress to upper intermediate (B2).  The classes are held twice a week for a total of 5 hours. There are two courses per year starting in September (12 weeks), and January (15 weeks). 

Our evening courses for IELTS and Advanced (C1) run twice a year starting September (12 weeks), and January (16 weeks). The Proficiency course (C2) runs once a year starting in January. Classes are held once a week  for 2.5 hours. 

All students receive a college certificate at the end of the course, and there is the option to take the Cambridge exam or IELTS exam at a local designated centre.

What you'll learn

  • Make use of free access to online exam practice and general language resources (Moodle) 
  • Familiarise yourself with the requirements of the Cambridge or IELTS exam (with the option of taking the exam at the end of the course)

To join one of these courses, you will undertake an assessment to check your current level of English.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

You will be taught by our specialist teaching team throughout the duration of your studies. Your teacher will set homework after each class in order for you to progress at your own level.

Our morning English courses start at low intermediate level (PET) and progress through to upper intermediate (FCE). A college certificate is issued at the end of the course and there is also the option take the Cambridge Preliminary (PET) and First Certificate (FCE) exams. The classes are held twice a week, for a total of 5 hours. There are two courses per year starting in September (12 weeks) and January (15 weeks).

Our evening Cambridge exam preparation courses FCE, CAE and OET run twice a year starting September (12 weeks) and January (16 weeks). CPE and IELTS preparation courses run once a year starting in January. Classes are held once a week. We offer discounted Cambridge exam prices for PET, FCE, CAE and CPE when you take your exam at College. (OET and IELTS exams must be taken at designated exam centres).
