You will develop your Practical, Personal & Employability skills in our Salons and complete practical assignments.
You will complete a range of these Vocational Units
Creating a visual display
Communicating with customers
Finding out about Hair & Beauty Businesses
Branding a product
Contributing to running an event
Recording income and expenditure
Developing a Personal Progression Plan
You will develop your Employability Skills & complete a BTEC Personal & Social development qualification.
You will undertake Volunteering or Work experience.
You will take an English & Maths Functional Skills qualification at the right level for you.
If you achieve a grade 3 for GCSE English or Maths at school you will undertake a resit in these subjects.

If you’re a school leaver and interested in The Hair and Beauty sector, this course is an ideal stepping stone towards achieving your ambition.
How Is this course assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways to give you the best opportunity to demonstrate your skills throughout the year.
You will complete an English & Maths assessment/Exam.
What could I do next?
You could progress onto a L2 course, an Apprenticeship or Employment.
The course is free to anyone between the age of 16-18.
You will need to purchase the following equipment (costs are approximate):
- Kit: £100.00
- Uniform: £40.00
Financial support is available through the Learner Support Fund. Applications can be made through the College's Learner Services team.
You will need to attend an informal interview, please bring a recent school report & record of attendance.
