About the course

Swedish massage is an ancient therapy that teaches you a wide range of massage techniques that will prepare you for industry. This will include gliding, kneading and friction and tapping, all of which work to relieve aching muscles and encouraging the flow of blood and lymph and enhancing skin tone.

Entry Requirements

You will hold an minimum of English GCSE grade D or equivalent.

You will be prepared to carry out 3 Hours per week independent study for the Anatomy and Physiology exam. Also there is a requirement of 3 hours per week practice and case studies outside of your college hours.

You will be able to enrol directly if you meet the entry requirements.

Who is it for?

This course is designed to teach the absolute beginner the ancient techniques of massage and is considered the foundation for many other massage techniques for the holistic therapist.

How Is this course assessed?

You will be required to write case studies on a variety of clients complete all assignments required and independently study at home. Assessment is continuous via assignment, practical observation and two external multiple choice exam papers.

What could I do next?

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to work in salons, health clubs, leisure centres or on a self-employed basis. You can also progress to one of our other short massage courses or the full-time Complementary Therapy course.

Additional cost

In addition to the course fee you will need to purchase the recommended professional uniform if you do not already have one. It consists of a smart tunic and trousers along with closed-toed shoes. Trainers are not permitted. There may also be a VTCT lifetime registration fee of approx. £35.00.
