About the course

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work is a two-unit, three-day course that will enable successful candidates to act as a first aider in their workplace.

Entry Requirements

No formal requirements necessary but delegates must be able to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures and also not have duties that prevent them from going immediately to an emergency 

What will I do on this course?

You will learn about:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider, assessing and incident
  • Unconscious casualties, cardiopulminary resuscitation, choking
  • External bleeding, shock, minor injuries, secondary survey
  • Injuries to bones, joints and muscles, suspected head and spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries, burns and scalds, eye injuries, sudden poisoning, anaphylaxis
  • Major illnesses
Who is it for?

Accidents and illness can happen at any time. Employers are responsible for making sure there are suitable and sufficient first aid arrangements for employees in order for them to receive immediate attention if they are taken ill or are injured at work. Our Courses are run weekly throughout the year at the Ashley Down Centre.

How Is this course assessed?

Students will be required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principles of first aid at work order to receive a  'First Aid at Work Certificate', which is approved by the Health and Safety Executive and valid for three years.Our First Aid courses are class room based with tutor led teaching, activities, multiple choice test papers and practical assessments
