About the course

This course covers an Introduction to Developing Communication Skills with Children and Planning for the Physical and Emotional Needs of Children aged 0- 5 years.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should be at Entry Level 3 in English or above.

What will I do on this course?

This course covers

  • Play and development; investigating physical and emotional needs;

  • Consulting with parents and children;

  • Exploring care needs;

  • Producing care plans;

  • Sharing information with parents and staff;

  • Nutrition;

  • Affection;

  • safety;

  • hygiene and lots more.

 

 

Who is it for?

This is a taster course for unemployed people who are considering a career in working with young children.

  • You must be in receipt of Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • You must be able to commit to attending college  for 1 day a week 9.15-16.15 for 10 weeks

How Is this course assessed?

You will build a portfolio of assignments to evidence your learning. You must pass all assignments in order to gain the Award.

You could progress on to a Level 2 Early Years course  or you could apply for a Level 2 Apprenticeship.
