About the course

Do you have an employee you wish to train, or would you like a new junior member of staff? If so then the Apprenticeship route is an excellent option. The apprentice will study the underpinning knowledge of Health and Social Care and have a dedicated assessor to observe their progress within the workplace.

Entry Requirements

Each company must provide:

  • A job providing the apprentice with a minimum of 30 hours of work per week
  • The apprentice must be paid a minimum of £3.30 per hour.

  • English GCSE Grade C/D
What will I do on this course?

The apprentice will attend college to complete their Functional Skills and HSC certificate. The HSC certificate is the underpinning knowledge for the HSC diploma. The diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units which will be assessed by written tasks, tests and or observations of their work.

How Is this course assessed?

The apprentice will be observed in the workplace and will gather evidence to prove they can do the job at a Level 2 standard. They will complete set assignments to prove their knowledge of the profession and tests to prove their ability to apply English, Maths and ICT in everyday situations. Reviews are completed with you, the employer, giving you regular feedback on the apprentice's progress.

What could I do next?

Once the apprentice has completed the Level 2 HSC Apprenticeship. It may be possible to progress to the following:

  • Level 3 Health and Social Care Diploma/Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma/Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Youth work Diploma/Apprenticeship
