Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship City of Bristol College

Are you employed as an Adult Care Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker or Personal Assistant?

You can continue working within the sector while gaining further knowledge of health and social care, with this 12-to-18-month Health and Social Care Level 2 Apprenticeship Standards.

You will need to be employed in a relevant role to start this Level 2 apprenticeship. You need to find your own employer as part of your application for an apprenticeship; you can search apprenticeship vacancies on gov.uk.

You will need to complete Functional Skills Level 1 if GCSE Grade 4 – 5 has not been achieved.  

Health and Social Care students aged 18 and over who wish to undertake a placement in any CQC registered setting are encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Who is this course for?

This apprenticeship is for people working within a care environment.

What you'll learn

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to enable you to support individuals in a health care environment in the workplace.

Course entry requirements

  • Desirable English and Maths with relevant grades (4-9).
  • Be working within a company already in the Health and Social Care sector for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • You will need to complete Functional Skills Level 1 if GCSE Grade 4 – 5 has not been achieved

How is the course delivered and assessed?

You will learn through a mainly work-based route. Your Diploma will be delivered within your workplace where you may attend workshops with your college assessor.

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will complete an endpoint assessment which consists of a knowledge examination (situational judgment multiple-choice test) and a professional discussion with an external assessor to gain your apprenticeship certificate

You will need to complete 15 standards of the care certificate and 20% off-the-job training.
