Preparing to Work in Adult Health and Social Care Level 2

This course is for adults aged 19 and over who are working towards a career in adult health and social care in a supervised job role.

During this course, you will complete nine units to achieve this qualification including the principles of communication in adult social care, principles of personal development in adult social care settings and the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings.

As this qualification is knowledge only, the completion of this qualification is achieved through classroom-based learning only. All the units within this qualification are vocationally based and are directly helping you gain the knowledge and understanding of the skills required to work in the adult social care sector.

You should have at least Level 1 English skills or working towards this as well as an interest in working within adult social care.

This course is delivered in a classroom, one day per week over a year. You will be assessed through building a portfolio of mostly written work which may include posters and presentations as well as essays.

After successfully completing this course you study at Level 3, for example, a Level 3 in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care qualification. 

You can move on to work as a care worker assistant, youth worker assistant, a care home or hospice assistant and someone who works in community healthcare or hospitals.
