About the course

This A Level reflects the society we live in and helps us understand the world today.

The course studies the Cold War, as relevant today as it was in 1989. It examines the pressures within the Middle East, bringing insight and understanding into the regions conflicts. The coursework unit allows you to develop your analytical & research skills whilst you choose the subject. Remember you do not need to have a GCSE in History, all that is required is an interest and desire to understand.

Entry Requirements

  • 6 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths
  • You do not need a GCSE in History to study history, just an interest in the subject
What will I do on this course?

Course modules include:

  • British period study and enquiry: Britain 1900 - 1951.
  • Non British period study: The Cold War in Europe 1941 - 1995.
Who is it for?

This course is part of a full time A Level programme of 4 different subjects and will appeal to Year 11 students who are interested in History.

What could I do next?

Universities recognise A Level History as a good academic qualification. It provides valuable preparation for courses ranging from degrees in History to Law and many others.
