About the course

You need no prior knowledge of law to study this subject at A Level. You will develop your communication skills through discussions relating to case studies and you will gain an excellent grounding in the main principles of English Law.

Entry Requirements

  • 6 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths
  • You will also need good essay writing skills
What will I do on this course?
  • In the first AS year you will study the English legal system including sources, police, courts, juries, lawyers and sentencing
  • In the second A2 year you will study criminal law including murder, manslaughter, assault, theft and defences
Who is it for?

This course is part of a full time A Level programme of 4 different subjects and will appeal to Year 11 students who are interested in the way our society works and enjoy problem solving.

What could I do next?
  • A university degree in Law or other subjects
  • An ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives) course. The A Level gives you exemptions from some ILEX modules
