About the course

This course is for adults who want to obtain a GCSE Maths. This is a very rewarding but demanding course that will require additional study outside the timetabled hours for you to succeed.

Entry Requirements

You need to undertake an assessment and score at least level 2 in order to enrol on this course.  If you score below level 2 we have a wide range of courses to prepare you to progress onto this course.

The course is free to all adults who do not already hold a GCSE Maths A*-C.

What will I do on this course?

You will be following the GCSE Maths syllabus that covers the areas of:

  • Algebra
  • Measures
  • Statistics
  • Geometry
  • Number
  • Probability
Who is it for?

If you are determined to work hard to improve your maths skills and gain a recognised qualification this is the course for you. You need to:

  • Be prepared to work extra hours outside the sessions
  • Commit to attend all timetabled sessions
How Is this course assessed?

You will be assessed at the end of the course through exams.

What could I do next?

At the end of the course (provided you achieve grade C or above) you could potentially progress into:

  • Any other course which requires a grade C Maths as part of the entry criteria
  • Access courses
  • University courses

After your initial assessment you with have a meeting with a Maths tutor to discuss which course is suitable for you.
