About the course

This course is for you if you would like to improve your maths to increase your employment prospects or, if you need a qualification to apply for further study in the College or with another provider.

Entry Requirements

Before joining the course you will need to take an initial assessment and have a discussion with a tutor to make sure this is the right course for you.

What will I do on this course?

You will develop your maths skills through a variety of fun, friendly activities. You will agree, set and work towards achieving personal targets and you will take an Entry Level qualification at an appropriate level for you

  • Basic number skills
  • Dealing with money
  • Working with measure including length, weight, capacity, and temperature
  • Time and timetables
  • Representing and understanding data in tables, charts and graphs
Who is it for?

The course is for to adults who want to improve their maths skills.

  • Have not yet achieved a Level 2 in numeracy or maths (GCSE A - C)
  • Are working at Entry 3 level or above (this will be assessed at interview)
How Is this course assessed?

You will be informally assessed throughout the year through assignments and class work. You will take a City & Guilds Functional Skills qualification towards the end of your course at an approriate level for you.

What could I do next?

Good maths skills are key for progression onto all higher level courses and into employment.

  • Improve their chances of finding work
  • Continue with a higher numeracy or maths qualification.
  • Apply for other courses in the college
