About the course

This part time programme caters for adult students with a learning disability.

It is offered as a wide range of half day and whole day courses focusing on Employment, Independent Living, Using the Community and Health & Wellbeing.

Entry Requirements

The are no formal entry requirements. All you need to do is have:

  • An interview to make sure that the course is right for you and that your support needs can be met before being offered a place.
What will I do on this course?

The subjects include some of the following:

  • Independent Cookery

  • Independent Living Skills

  • Self Advocacy

  • Citizenship

  • Enterprise Gardening

  • Healthy Living

  • Communication Skills

Who is it for?

Adult students who have learning difficulties and are generally working at Pre-entry level.

How Is this course assessed?

You will have an individual learning plan, and your practical work and class work will be informally assessed throughout the year. Your work will be moderated through the RARPA quality assurance process, and you will get a college certificate at the end of the course.

Additional cost

Course Fees:

  • If you are aged 16-24 and you have an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP) you will not have to pay course fees.
  • If you are older or you do not have an EHCP, you will have to pay part or all of the cost of your course.
  • You may also be asked to contribute towards the cost of support at college.
  • Please contact the college for further details.
  • All students will be asked to contribute a materials fee of £10 for each full day or £5 for each half day they attend.
