About the course
If you are interested in studying outdoor adventure and education, this course is for you. It will help you to develop your personal qualities and attributes. It can be used as a progression route to employment in the outdoor industry, higher education, public service employment or as an additional qualification to other Level 3 courses.
The course is designed to run over two years however you need to achieve the 90C Diploma by the end of year 1 to enable you to progress to year 2 and study the Extended Diploma.
Fees
- Between the ages of 16-18 you do not need to pay tuition or exam fees for your course.
- If you are between the ages of 19 and 23 and have not achieved a full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification before, you will not need to pay tuition, exam or material fees using the Level 2 or 3 Entitlement.
- If you are aged 19 or over, studying a Level 3-6 and a Level 3 Entitlement does not apply, you will need to pay the full cost of the course. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the fees.
Entry Requirements
The essential requirements depend upon your age, your education and qualifications, references and your background and interests. These are laid out below
- Five GCSEs at grade c or above to include English and Maths
- Excellent records of attendance, punctuality and health
- Evidence of interest and participation in outdoor activities at a entry level
- Basic standard of fitness and evidence of willingness to improve
You will need to show some interest or evidence to support your application
- Duke of Edinburgh, Ten Tors, Youth Club, CCF, ACT, Activity Club membership or participation
- Interest in developing personal skills and attributes through undertaking National Governing Body Awards
You will be enrolled on the 90 Credit Diploma, which is a one year course. Upon successful completion of year one, you can progress onto the Extended Diploma in year two.
