Upskilling the financial services sector in the South West

City of Bristol College is the lead provider for the National Skills Academy for Financial Services South West. The Academy is a national network of employer-led centres of excellence which advise and shape financial services training.

Shaping the prosperity of the region

The financial services sector plays an important part in the economic prosperity of the South West. However, the sector faces challenges in these uncertain economic times. The skills of current staff and new recruits will have a direct impact on the ability of the sector to survive and compete in the upturn.

The College works with employers throughout the region to help the sector develop training provision to ensure that the workforce has the appropriate skills to manage the challenges ahead.

What training is available?

City of Bristol College works with employers to deliver relevant training programmes, either flexibly in-company or via open courses. We can cover both generic skills such as customer service or business administration as well as technically-specific courses such Financial Planning.

Sector-specific NVQs, such as Providing Financial Advice
Financial Services Apprenticeships at levels 2 and 3
Coaching for the Owner/Manager of SMEs
‘Bitesize’ university-level modules

Helping employers access funding

The College can help businesses throughout the South West to access funding. There are opportunities for fully subsidised NVQs as well as our leadership and management programmes, where SMEs can access £1,000 matched funding to offset the costs of training for managers.
