Excellence in HE
The national inspectorate, QAA (Quality Assurance Agency), responsible for assessing the quality and standards of Higher Education in England and Wales, continues to rate the College highly.
The QAA reviews the university level courses that are delivered in Further Education Colleges as part of its Integrated Quality and Enhancement Review (IQER) process.
The QAA (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) report, published in September 2010, concluded that it had “confidence in the College’s management of its higher education provision”.
The report highlights a number of areas of good practice at the College, including:
- clear and comprehensive quality assurance processes
- open and constructive dialogue with its partner universities
- engaging employers in the design, assessment and review of Foundation Degree programmes
- impressive support to students through mentoring and placement supervision
- response to the needs of local employers
- engaging with a wide range of sectors

Previous QAA reports
The 2009 report drew attention to some exemplary practice in teaching and learning, inlcuding:
- 'Courses have pass rates significantly above the national average'
- 'Current students spoke warmly of the availability of core staff in providing support and guidance... The teaching and social accommodation at College Green Centre provides an excellent learning environment'
- 'Students are overwhelmingly positive in their views of the vocational relevance of courses confirming that achievement of the qualification both enhances career prospects and improves performance within their current roles'
- 'The auality of teaching and learning and student progression is commendable'
- 'Students are assisted well in adapting to the demands of higher education'
