Where to socialise
There are many places you can choose to hang out and meet friends. We asked you, the students, where your favourite haunts in Bristol are. Here's what you said.
Where to eat?
At College:
For the best places to eat at College centres our cafes get the thumbs up. It's good food and good value and you can buy fairtrade tea and coffee so the growers get a good price say students.
For the fine dine experience, City Restaurant at College Green Centre and Cabot Restaurant at Ashley Down Centre offer quality cuisine, cooked by the College’s catering students. Served in modern, stylish surroundings the food is also great value so you can afford to eat out more often.
In Bristol:
- Royce Rolls on Corn Street - 'great veggie baguettes'
- Plantation on Gloucester Road - 'great food and great staff'
- Pieminister: 'delicious pies - enough said... '
- Boston Tea Party - 'They use proper leaf tea, the Luscious Lemon Cake is great and the staff are amazingly smiley'.
Where to drink?
The city has over 100 pubs, many clustered around the centre, Harbourside, Whiteladies Road and Gloucester Road. The most popular with students are:
- The Woods: Many of you recommend a night out here
- The Apple: Great for summertime al fresco drinking
- Lab: Stylish and funky
- The Anchor, Three Tuns, The Hillgrove and The Hatchett Inn were also all mentioned as good places for a night out.
Where to club?
From the city's club scene have come Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, Roni Size's Reprazent, Halo, and Kosheen. There's over 40 nightclubs, many staying open late.
Your most popular clubs are:
- The Syndicate: Student bargains galore!
- The Academy: Cheap beer and good music
- Thekla Social: The 'club on a boat' is always a good night out
- Big Chill Bar: Complete with roof terrace and 'study' area, this makes for a good (if pricey) night out.
