We provide many great courses for all sorts of students. It can be tricky getting to grips with all the levels of education on offer, so here’s how you can work out which course is going to be right for you.

Entry

1-2 or 3 years

If you have no qualifications or expect to need support with your future learning.

You could move on to a Level  1 course.

  • Foundation Learning at Entry Level

Level  1 – Foundation

1 year

If you have basic qualifications or low grades at GCSE.

You could move on to a Level 2 course or an apprenticeship.

  • BTEC Introductory Diplomas and Certificates
  • Functional Skills at Level 1
  • BTEC Awards, Certificates and Diplomas at Level 1
  • Foundation Learning Tier Pathways
  • NVQs at Level 1

Level 2 – Intermediate

1 year

If you have 4 GCSEs at grades D-E or an NVQ Level 1.

You could move on to a Level 3 course or into a job with training or an apprenticeship.

  • GCSEs grades A*-C

  • Intermediate Apprenticeships

Level 3 – Advanced

2 years

If you already have at least 4 GCSEs at grades C or above (including English and/or maths), BTEC Diploma, NVQ 2 or equivalent.

You could progress into Higher Education or into a wide range of jobs or an apprenticeship.

Level  4/5/6 – Higher Education

2-3 years

If you already have your A Levels, a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma, Access to HE or an NVQ3.

You will have access to a much wider range of careers, or you could progress with further studies.
