City of Bristol College Apprenticeship competition
City of Bristol College hosted a series of hair and beauty competitions for local apprentices at the College's newest centre, South Bristol Skills Academy.
The event involved apprentices from salons across Bristol, who are taught by the College, coming together to take part in a variety of competitions based on beauty, nails and male and female hair styling. During the competition apprentices were judged on their inspiration, creativity, and clean finish.
As part of the event, internationally renowned hairdresser Beverly C was showcasing her masterpieces in hairdressing live on stage as part of a catwalk show. Beverly also judged the Apprenticeship competitions.
Beverly was the first woman to receive an MBE for services to hairdressing. As a world leader in the field, Beverly was awarded her MBE in 2008, and was British Hairdresser of the Year in both 2001 and 2002. She then went global, becoming Best British Hairdresser in Japan, and receiving the British Masters Award in Australia in 2005.
Lottie Stevens, Curriculum Manager at City of Bristol, commented: "The competitions stretch students' abilities and showcase the knowledge and skills they have learnt during their Apprenticeship. This event showcases the best of the industry and is a real opportunity for us to showcase our skills as an industry-standard training College."
