City of Bristol College reports strong A Level results
Students at the College’s Sixth Form Academy have been eagerly anticipating their A Level results this week, with the College retaining its strong pass rate at A Level.
Grade A and A* passes have increased by almost 3 per cent, which assist students as they attempt to meet the high offers made by universities. The College has also increased the number of subjects achieving 100 per cent pass rates from 21 to 27. These subjects include Physics, Philosophy, Media, Film, History, Economics and English.
Exceptional students' results
“We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements. These superb results reflect their hard work and commitment, as well as the high quality of teaching and learning in our College,” said Roland Goddard, Head of Sixth Form Academy at the College.
In addition to A Level students, the College’s 600 Level 3 vocational students have also excelled, with a 97 per cent pass rate and a significant number of high grades. Subjects that performed particularly well were Forensic Science, Children’s Care, Learning and Development and Health and Social Care.
Judy Stradling, Deputy Principal at City of Bristol College, comments: “These exceptional results mark a strong second year for the Sixth Form Academy, and we are proud to report such a high standard of results in both A Level and National Diploma courses.”
Judy adds: “Due to the increased competition for university places, we decided to let students open their results earlier than usual, to give those who needed it the opportunity to go through the clearing process early. For any students who had not gained their university place, staff were on hand to offer support and guidance.
Looking forward to the future
Among the students who received their A Level results was Hayley Thomas, who is planning to take a year out before studying nursing at the University of the West of England. Receiving her A Level results was a particularly proud moment for Hayley as, at the age of 15, she was confined to her house with anxiety stress disorder. Hayley has achieved despite a difficult period in her life and is looking forward to the future.
