College Governor is awarded MBE

College Governor, Neil Middleton, has been awarded an MBE for services to further education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Neil has been a governor of the College since 1986 and was appointed Chair in 1997. Playing a key part in the successful merger of Brunel and South Bristol College, to form City of Bristol College, Neil has steered the College through a period of growth and success.

Neil has provided 25 years of voluntary service to the College and other organisations. As a tireless supporter of the College, Neil has also contributed to the two most recent Ofsted inspections, with the leadership of the College Governors being graded as ‘outstanding’.

Congratulations to Neil on being named one of honoured few in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, and for his contribution to the College’s success.

The British honours system is one of the oldest in the world. Honours lists are published twice a year, at New Year and in mid-June, on the date of the Queen’s official birthday. Anyone can receive an award if they reach the required standard of merit or service, with the honours lists containing a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.
